Historic Ephesus in Izmir attracts millions of visitors

The popular ancient city of Ephesus in the province of Izmir:

the Aegean region is attracting millions of tourists every year.
Ephesus was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2015.

History Ephesus

The historical site was a Greek city and later on a huge Roman settlement near Selçuk in the coastal Izmir province. Ephesus has a rich cultural history dating back to 6500 B.C.

The main attraction in the area is the ancient city of Ephesus. However there is the Celsus library, the house of the Virgin Mary and Church of St John the Evangelist. 

The structures represent both the Chistianity and Turkish-Islamic era.
The House of the Virgin Mary is located in Bülbüldaği near Ephesus. 

They say that the mother of Jesus was taken to this stone house where she lived until she died.

Many property buyers in Izmir are attracted by the numerous historical sites in Izmir.
